I am Dr. Swarb and over the last 9 years I use a method to build hyper-sensitive and hyper-accurate AI systems in a relatively short cycle, within 3-10 months, something that usually takes years for the most well funded companies.
I have given it a name that you will normally not find in AI literature (by that I mean scientific papers in AI, ML and data science).
I call it “Signal Baiting”.
When you go fishing, you need to know two things: Where the fish generally are? What bait to use?
What I have discovered during a decade-long career as a data scientist and AI architect is that the same principle holds true for building hyper-sensitive and hyper-accurate AI systems as well.
We can fish for patterns in the input data using mini-algorithms.
The trick is to know how to search for and amplify the signals in the data, which can then be used to make AI systems more sensitive towards delivering certain outputs for certain inputs.
I refer to the signals—the patterns in the input—as Data Levers.
Data Levers are the "fish" we are trying to catch. We just need the right bait.
We can build accurate algorithms that are especially sensitive towards these Data Levers and use them to produce enhanced results.
This is how AI systems can be built that are sufficiently sensitive towards "high level" information contained in the input data.
Creating these algorithms is not an exact science - at least not yet.
Using this principle, I built the core neural engine for a Silicon Valley AI startup that was then acquired by American Express in 2017 in a multi-million dollar deal, only a year after its launch.
I created the recommendation engine and scoring algorithm for PwC, one of the Big Four consulting firms, in four months.
I also designed hyper-accurate AI systems for startups and enterprises - all of them in a third of the usual time to market.
Typically, the time to market for AI systems is 1-2 years, assuming everything goes as planned.
But this approach is not popular because it requires a lot of ingenuity and patience.
The popular way is to buy the most expensive GPU you can buy with the most memory you can afford.
And then train the largest language model you can train on this hardware using all the data scraped off the web you can lay your hands on.
And then keeping fingers crossed, you hope that after many training iterations, a "highly intelligent" LLM will magically appear.
My approach is the opposite.
I use GPUs that businesses can easily afford. I study carefully what data to train on. And then I look for architectures and models that can catch the "Data Levers" - the high level signals in the data - that are needed to be caught to develop highly sensitive models.
Sometimes, this requires using a mix of models.
